Knuffle Bunny: A Cautionary Tale

Willems, M. (2004). Knuffle Bunny: A Cautionary Tale. New York, NY: Hyperion Books for Children.

Brief Annotation: This is the story of a young child you misplaces a treasured bunny that she cannot bear to be without.

Genre: Picture book

Grade Level: pre-k - 2

Readers who will like this: This is a great introductory book for children. It uses simple language with large font. It also uses funny non-sense words to help children learn letter sounds. IT would be a great read outloud book for beginning readers. Anyone who has ever lost something would love this story!

Response/Rating (1-4): 4! I loved the black and white photographs of the city with the cartoon characters drawn on top. I also loved how they ran in and out of the pages when they were going to rescue Knuffle Bunny. I also enjoyed that the author used some of the same characters in the background.

One question you would ask before a read aloud: Have you ever misplaced something that you couldn’t live without? What did you do? Did you find it?
