Genre: Poetry- Mother Goose

Grade Level: Birth-Grade 3

Readers who will like this: Children who have heard the rhymes before will especially enjoy this book. The classic rhymes are all included, and some of the less obvious ones too. The book has great illustrations which really enhances the story in the poems. Readers who enjoy poetry will love this book, and also people who are looking for a fun and catchy book to read. It is a fairly easy read, so new readers should be able to handle most of the words, but some of the names could be a bit of a challenge too. Nursery age children would enjoy listening to this book because of the catchy rhythms.

Response/Rating (1-4): 3, I really love Mother Goose and all of her rhymes so I enjoyed this book. I do think though that they jump almost a little too fast from one to the next, and if you were expected to read the entire book it would actually get a little long. If you are able to read a few of the pages though, then it's a great read and the illustrations are absolutely beautiful. This would be a classic bedtime book.

One question you would ask before a read aloud: “ Do you know who Mother Goose is?” *Be sure to know the answer to this one too! Even the author stated that he thought Mother Goose was a real person for a very long time.
