Brief Annotation: One day, a penguin randomly shows up at a little boys door! He decides that the right thing to do is to help this penguin find his way home. They take a trip over the ocean on an umbrella to the South Pole, where the penguin is originally from! The boy decides it's time to go home, but what of the friendship that the penguin and the boy have formed?

Genre: Picturebook, fiction, fantasy.

Grade Level: Pre-K through 2.

Readers who will like this: Students who like stories about friendship. Students who like quest or adventure stories.

Response/Rating(1-4): ***. My favorite thing about this book was the illustrations. The watercolors done by Jeffers really capture a strong fantasy and whimsy, and go perfectly well with the story of friendship. This book was really entertaining and cute.
