Brief Annotation: Rosa Parks becomes a strong symbol of the civil rights movement in Montgomery, Alabama in 1955, when she steadfastly refuses to give up her seat on the bus. Following a nonviolent bus boycott that lasts over a year, the Supreme Court denounces segregation and calls for equality for all people.

  1. I just love Nikki Giovanni's work. Though I love the illustrations in this one, it really is the text that makes this a masterpiece.
