McLeod, B. (2006) Superhero ABC. New York, NY: Harper Collins.

Brief annotation: This alphabet book features a cast of Super Heroes—one fore each letter. The heroes have range of abilities and skills for fighting evil etc, and each one corresponds with the letter for that page.
Genre: Concept book
Grade level: 1-4
Readers who will like this: Students who enjoy graphic novels/comics. Students who like super heroes.
Response/rating: 4 I have read this book with a number of my students and they all LOVE it. It is often a reward for hard work, that they get to read a page with me. I also really like that McLeod uses very complex vocabulary in this book. The pictures and alphabet concept make the book accessible to younger readers and the vocabulary makes it interesting to more advanced readers.
One question you would ask before read aloud: “If you were a super hero what would your power be?”
