Z Goes Home

Agee, J. (2003). Z Goes Home. Belgium, England: Michael di Capua Books.

Brief Annotation: This book is a fantastic way to teach children the alphabet with images. It is not like any other alphabet book, where each letter represents the first sound of an image. It teaches to look around and learn from your surroundings. The nonsense word “Zowie” at the end of the book helps new learners to learn the rules of phonics.

Genre: Alphabet book

Grade Level: Pre K - 1

Readers who will like this: Readers learning the alphabet would like this book. It would also be rewarding for readers who already know the alphabet. They could ever come up with new pictures for the letters.

Response/Rating (1-4): 4, Z Goes Home is an adorable way to teach and learn the alphabet.

One question you would ask before a read aloud: What is your favorite letter, and why?
