And to Think That I Saw It on Mulberry Street

Seuss, Theodor. (1937). And to think that I saw it on Mulberry Street. Illus. Theodor Seuss. New York,New York: The Vanguard Press.

And to Think That I Saw It on Mulberry Street is the first of Dr. Seuss’s many children books. It is a colorful, fantasy story about a young boy named Marco. Marco’s father asks him every day what he sees on the way home for school. Marco is disappointed because he only sees a simple horse and wagon. Marco uses his creativity to think of the most amazing sights and sounds! The story soon turns from looking at a boring old wagon into a decorated elephant carrying a rajah! "Say! That makes a story that no one can beat, / When I say that I saw it on Mulberry Street."
