Wiesner, D. (1991). Tuesday. New York: Houghton Mifflin Company.

Brief Annotation: This Caldecott award winning book uses only drawings to tell the story of what happens one Tuesday night when no one is looking. Hundreds of frogs come flying into a neighborhood on their lily pads. The frogs wreak havoc on the block and scare the neighborhood dogs. And then next Tuesday some pigs show up...

Genre: wordless picture book; animal fantasy

Grade level: K-4

Readers who will like this book: Students who struggle reading words but want to experience the accomplishment of reading a book on their own. Visual learners.

Response/Rating (1-4): **** This book is fun and challenging for me as an adult reader. With no words one is forced to rely on only the pictures to convey the story. The pictures are detailed and effectively convey the events of the story. The artwork is also very silly and fun.

One question you would ask before read aloud: Can you tell a story without using any words?
